Can the funds in my bank account be seized or frozen by collectors?
The funds in your bank account could ultimately be seized or frozen by your collectors. However, your collectors do have to take certain steps before they can do that. They would have to file a lawsuit against you and prevail and obtain a judgement against you.
Once they have that, they can get what's called a writ of garnishment which would entitle them to freeze or seize the funds in your bank account such as checking or savings account.
