Does a previous bankruptcy prevent me from filing bankruptcy again?

Previous bankruptcy generally will not prevent you from filing bankruptcy again. But there are time limits associated with when you can file that second bankruptcy. If you previously filed the Chapter 7, you do have to wait eight years before you can file another Chapter 7. And you would need to wait four years before you could file a Chapter 13, otherwise, you will not be eligible for a discharge in the subsequent case.
