How do I know if I need a student loan attorney?

Well, student loan attorneys are relatively new. We've had a lot of problems in the last few years, that have been well publicized with schools and the amount of student loan debt. It’s important to know that the servicer doesn’t represent you, the student or the borrower. They represent the department of ed, the creditor. They're not required to explain all the options to you or even if there are options available. If you don't understand the different options, if you’re getting different or inconsistent answers from your servicer, consult with a student loan attorney. You’ll be surprised at what can be done.
