I have more credit card debt than I can pay off. What are my options?
If you have more credit card debt that you can pay off you might have several options. First is what we call a non-bankruptcy option, where we reach out to you creditors and we try to work out settlements or payment plans that are affordable for you. It would keep you out of bankruptcy and it would help protect your credit by paying off the debts at some settled or reduced amount. If that is not possible for you, there is always the option of bankruptcy. I'd recommend you speak with an experienced bankruptcy attorney to determine what is best for you as far as filing a chapter seven or a Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
